U9 Boys Cricket v TPS
On a beautiful afternoon, TPS put Copthill in to bat. They balled fast and accurately. We, in return protected our wickets,
communicated well and picked off singles.
Our total of 259 was good against such accurate bowling but we realised
would be a hard total to defend.
With TPS in to bat, Copthill were on their toes in the field
and stopped a number of fours.
Unfortunately, we bowled far too many wides, allowing TPS to be close to
our total half way through their innings.
Some excellent quick and accurate bowling from Gilbert Genever-Jones,
Elliott Noble, Henry Sullivan-Porteus and Edmund Kavati pegged TPS back and
with only three overs remaining their score was 256. In the last three overs, we had three chances
to take wickets with catches but all were dropped. TPS managed to edge to a win, ending with
270.
It was a very close game and could have gone either
way. Gilbert Genever-Jones captained the
side effectively and Edmund Kavati was man-of-the-match with an impressive all
round performance both batting and bowling.
We need to straighten up our bowling and become more confident in taking
catches dropping from height. If we can
do this over the next couple of weeks, we will be a dangerous team for any
opposition to face.
