MISGA - Gymnastics

Copthill entered three teams in the MISGA (Midlands Independent Schools Gymnastics Association) gymnastics competition last weekend at Stamford Junior School.

It was a great experience for all of the girls and we saw some beautiful gymnastics over two days.

Our first team to compete were the U9 Novice girls.  They performed a set floor and a vault.  The girls performed well and worked hard to overcome their nerves as for many of them this was their first competition.  Ava Turner narrowly missed out on a 6th place medal by 0.5 points
The team managed to secure a third place team medal which they were thrilled about!.

In the afternoon we saw our U9 Advanced team take to the floor.  They performed a floor routine to music and a vault.  All the girls performed with confidence and a smile and completed their routines successfully.  Annabel Hayes had a great competition and was awarded a 5th place individual medal.

On the Sunday the U11 Advanced team took part in their competition.  The standard of the girls competing was extremely high and it was a very tough competition.  Our team competed some great vaults and their floor routines were some of the best we have seen them do.  Ivy Kettlewell was our top scorer of the day and scored a fantastic 9 out of 10 for her floor routine.

Well done to all of the girls who competed.  It is fantastic to see their confidence as gymnasts increasing and the support and positive attitude that they demonstrate towards their team mates.
