Year 3 & 4 Cricket House Matches
The U9 Cricket House matches saw one of the closest
finals played for many years at Copthill!
The two teams in the final were Casewick and Burghley and with Casewick
possessing a number of regular U9 players looked to be very firm favourites
before the competition even started two weeks ago. However this certainly
was not the case for the final.
Burghley put on a very respectable 252 as they opened the batting.
This looked to be enough to win the game, especially as the final pair for
Casewick came in needing to score 20 off 12 balls. After their first
over, William Gardner and William Le Voi needed 8 in the final over to win the
match for Casewick. They managed this with 3 balls remaining, Burghley
now needed a wicket which they didn't achieve, however they managed to reduce
Casewick to 0 from the final 3 balls.
The third and fourth play-off saw Milton take third as they beat
Lindsey. Lindsey
batted first and scored 231 runs; they would have scored more had it not have
been for some terrific bowling from Milton, who managed to take four
wickets.
Lindsey were unable to take any wickets despite
some great bowling. Some strong batting from Ashton Hunt, Oliver Perkins, Will
Taylor and Elliott Noble ensured third place was theirs, and they managed
to score a whopping 293 runs!
Very well done to all the boys who took part in these excellent Cricket House Matches this term!
