Brendan Reilly - Olympic High Jumper visits Copthill
On Monday of this week the children at Copthill listened intently to the inspirational assembly led by former Olympic High Jumper, Brendan Reilly. Brendan talked about 'having a dream' and showed the children the high's and low's of his High Jumping career and how important it is to bounce back when things don't quite go the right way and to learn from any mistakes.
The children in Years 4, 5 and 6 were then taught how to perform the High Jump by Brendan himself. The boys and girls were quick to take on board the teaching points and were soon jumping like champions. There were moans and groans when each session came to an end as the children were all keen to keep on going and challenge themselves further to achieve the next height.
Sammy Harriss and Felix Bowling cleared the furthest height in Year 4, Frankie Battle and Fabian Wyer-Roberts cleared the greatest height in Year 5 and Callum Goodfellow cleared 1m15cm, the greatest height, in Year 6.
Well done to all the children for their efforts.
