U11 A Football v Brooke Priory (a) Wednesday 2nd March 2016
Copthill U11 A football team travelled to Brooke Priory on Wednesday 2nd March. It was a very blustery day which did make playing conditions tricky!
Brooke Priory started the match brightly and were passing the ball around well. They took a deserved lead through a long range shot that slipped underneath Freddie in the Copthill goal. However Copthill were soon back on level terms after 3 consecutive corners from Connor Finlan the ball cannoned off a Brooke defender into Felix Clayton into the goal 1-1. Brooke then went back in front from a corner of their own which was flicked into the goal.
Half time was 2-1 to Brooke Priory. Unfortunately Copthill were always playing catch up in this game and conceded another goal to make the scoreline 3-1 to Brooke. However out of nowhere Copthill found 2 goals through Felix Clayton and Charlie Plant to make the score 3-3. But with nearly the final kick of the match Brooke managed to regain the lead with a well taken volleyed goal.
On true reflection of the game this was a fair result as Copthill struggled to get going throughout but they tried very hard. Man of the match went to Freddie Gwinnett in goal who didn't have that much help and what he needed to do, he did very well.
There final match is in 2 weeks time at Laxton where they take part in a mini tournament.
Well done to all the boys who took part.
