Ayscoughfee Cross Country Wed 25th March 2015

Copthill School took 23 runners to Ayscoughfee Hall School to compete in their annual cross country event.  History has it that this has been a very wet, windy and cold event, however we were blessed with very pleasant weather, ideal conditions for running.

The U9 girls race was first and Lily Newman competed very well, setting a good early pace and eventually finishing in a very commendable 3rd place.  Then it was the turn of the U9 boys with Charlie Plant and Owen James coming 4th and 5th respectively.  If it wasn't for a stumble in the woods by Charlie, he could have come in the top 3, possibly even had won it!  The U11 girls were next and all competed extremely well with Maissie Brownlow finishing excellently in 1st position.  She set a great early pace and looked very strong throughout!  Then the U11 boys completed the races, all competing well and finishing in commendable positions.

Very well done to all the runners who took part and put in tremendous effort.  A special mention must go to the U11 girls who brought back the shield for overall winners in their category.  Well done.

Mr Smith
