The Oakham U10 Tounament - Sunday 1st March
U10 Girls took part in the Oakham Tournament.
The girls got off to a flying start with a fantastic 5-0 win over St John's College. They then played a strong Laxton side but were unfortunate to be defeated 7-2. The team showed their determination to come back with a stunning 3-0 win over Brooke Priory and finished the group stages with a gutsy performance to beat St Cedd's.
Finishing second in their group behind Laxton, the girls were very deservedly through to the semi finals of the competition! They were unlucky to lose 6-3 to Stoneygate School. Having gone down 6-1 in the first half, it was just a shame they didn't have more time to finish off their comeback!
The team faced Laxton again in the 3/4th place play offs and despite a drastic change in the weather and having already played five intense matches throughout the day, the girls ended up losing 4-1.
The girls produced some amazing netball over the course of the day. The standard of this tournament was incredibly high and 4th place was a fantastic result. Their attitude, effort and behaviour throughout the day was second to none, the girls all gave 110% and were an absolute credit to the school - well done girls and thank you to the parents for being so wonderfully supportive of the girls' efforts.
The team: Ags Pennell (Captain and blister defying centre); Rosie Sly (weather defeating shooter); Poppy Newman (most improved Copthill player over the day); Maddie Hunt (interceptor extrordinaire); Jessica Westwood (super winger) ; Alice Brownlow (meticulous positioning) ; Daisy Selkirk (fantastically consistent defending); Ana Isaac (goal of the day).

U10 Boys at the Oakhmam Tournament
Copthill under 10 rugby team had a tough day of rugby in Oakham on Sunday for the Oakham school 7’s competition. Copthill played four matches against St Anselm’s, Witham Hall, Beeston Hall, Fairfield in the pool stages and then progressed through to the Spoon competition where they played Stoneygate and St Cedd’s.
There were some strong and commendable performances from Toby Dalrymple and Gabriel Rudman and the team was lead gallantly by Freddie Gwinnett. All the boys in the squad played with courage and determination in each of the matches and Mr Forward was thankful for the support and encouragement of the parents and family members that attended.
