Copthill U11C's v Stamford Junior School U11C's

The girls were very much looking forward to the last match of the season and after Mrs Harriss' inspirational pep talk and having seen the A's and B's both win, the C's were raring to go!
They started off well, with some lovely passing and moving from Charlotte Dean and Poppy Newman giving the Stamford defence plenty to think about. Samantha Hughes and Jessica Gumbrell proved to be tough defenders to beat, keeping the Stamford attackers from getting near to the goal. As the game progressed it was fantastic to see the girls becoming more confident, with some brilliant play from Izzy York-Forward, Lily Newman and Molly Gumbrell. Jemima Hitcham (guest goalkeeper) played brilliantly in goal and Zoe Richardson produced some fantastic attacking play up front. The final score was a very well deserved 3-1 to Copthill.  Poppy Newman did a great job as captain and Jessica Gumbrell and Zoe Richardson shared the Player of The Match award.

Well done girls - it was great to see you playing with such confidence. And yes, I did think that the second goal was fantastic!!
