U11A rugby tournament at LGJS 9/11/16

On Wednesday 9th November, the under 11A rugby team went to Leicester Grammar School to play a tournament. The boys played three tough and strong teams. First of all they played Witham Hall which they lost 5-2 but gave 100% effort after going 2 tries down in the first half. Joseph Carey played amazing getting right into the action by rucking, mauling and ripping the ball a lot. When Copthill went down 2-0, William Taylor scored and Oliver Perkins made a great run down the blind side scoring a brilliant try. After half time, it went a bit downhill with Witham passing down the line scoring a try. Just when Witham scored a try to make it 4-2 they ran straight into space scoring another amazing try.

The second match they played against Brooke Priory they lost 3-1. Carey again was on top form as he was putting a lot of effort in. After going down 2-0 at halftime, the lads managed to rally together to score. At the end of the game Brooke managed to score to make it 3-1.

The last match was against Leicester Grammar School which they lost 2-1 with all tries coming in the first half. Leicester managed to grab quick try but Copthill responded well with Owen James scoring a try down the wing. As the first half was drawing to a close Leicester managed to get a well deserved try. Straight after the second half began, Leicester got the ball down the wing. When James was going to tackle the man with the ball, his knee clashed with the ball carrier's knee and unfortunately twisted his knee and had to be carried off. As Copthill were pushing for an equaliser, Leicester managed to hold on.
