U11A @Leicester Grammar Hockey Festival

Leicester Grammar Hockey Festival

8 girls headed off on the minibus with their yummy pack ups in hand ready to travel over to Leicester. We arrived and were briefed with how the afternoon would work. Firstly we had 5 games forming a small tournament. We would then move over to a second half of coaching lead by the MT13 team.

The girls won three of their matches and lost two; one to a particularly strong Fairfield team. The girls really progressed over the tournament and Jess Dean displayed some wonderful defensive work with Felicity Branston really finding her feet playing Centre Midfield in the final game. We set ourselves the target of sticking with our player in defence after our first match against Fairfield and the girls worked really hard on this and certainly defended with more fight throughout the remaining games.

In the coaching block the girls rotated around 5 stations working on a variety of different skills from dribbling and lifting the ball to  playing small sided games with mini goals. The girls split into different teams when moving around stations so had the opportunity to work with 5 other schools including Stoneygate and Grace Dieu.
