U11A Hockey v Oakham School - Wed 14th March 2018

Copthill U11 A team finished off the Hockey season with a fine team performance against a well organised Oakham side.

Oakham cam flying out of the traps and raced into a 2 goal lead within the first 3 minutes of the match! Copthill replied well to this scoring 2 goals through Ted Pennell and Freddie Bedford to level the match at half time.

Copthill started the second half really well despite conceding early on again to go 3-2 down. Again, Copthill rallied together and scored 2 further goals through the same scorers in the first half to go 4-3 up. Oakham scored late on to equalise which made the final score 4-4.

This was probably the best Copthill have played in terms of team performance and atmosphere and team spirit was outstanding! I was hugely impressed with everyone's performance and it was evident to see just how much all of the boys have improved.

Player of the match was Edmund Kavati, who has not featured too much for the A team this term, but was outstanding playing on the right of midfield and his cross for Freddie Bedford in the second half was the best goal I've seen at Copthill! There was about 4 or 5 passes exchanged before the ball was passed wide to Edmund was crossed with great power into the danger zone where Freddie connected perfectly in the air to fire home! Special mention also goes to Gilbert G-J who played superbly well in defence and had a really solid game.

Well done to all the boys who played today and they can all be very proud of how well they finished off the hockey season.

Mr Smith
