U11A Hardball Cricket - Wednesday 5th June 2019

Copthill travelled to Witham Hall on Wednesday 5th June to play their first cricket match of the second half of term.

The wicket was in magnificent condition and the boys will never play on much better wickets around this area!

Copthill won the toss and elected to bat first. The boys batted well and managed to score 58 runs and only lose 5 wickets, this was a huge improvement from when they played at Wisbech where they lost 11 wickets! However, the run rate was quite low from 20 overs.

Witham's first pairing out of their 5 scored an incredible 29 off 4 overs, therefore over halfway to the target they needed.

Copthill battled well but the technique of the Witham batsmen was far superior to Copthill and consequently won them the match.

The boys should be proud of their achievements however and should look to improve even further when they play host to Jerwoods School, Oakham next week.

Man of the match was Harry Kinnear & Marcus Oliver.

Mr Smith
