On a very wet wicket with grass cuttings piled high, Copthill fielded first and managed to take four wickets.  Henry Sullivan-Porteous and Gilbert Genever-Jones bowled straight and with pace, however, we gave away far too many wides and no-balls; allowing Laxton to reach a total of 332.

When Copthill batted, Laxton bowled very accurately and unfortunately, our defensive ability was found wanting as each batsman looked to put the ball away to the boundary.  We lost eleven wickets in all, which made it very difficult to chase Laxton’s score.  There was some good batting, especially from Sammy Harris and Henry Sullivan-Porteous who scored seventeen off one over.

We will look to straighten our bowling and defend our wickets when necessary for next week’s match against Maidwell.
