U11 A&B Hockey Festival at Stamford

U11 Stamford Hockey Festival

What a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon of sport. All the girls played in a number of fixtures, with us fielding two teams in separate pools.

The A team remain unbeaten winning 1-0 vs Stamford A, 2-0 vs Laxton A, 4-0 vs Stoneygate and a thrilling last match win of 4-2 vs Brooke Priory A.
All of the team were keen to listen and work on things throughout the festival. Special mention and player of the tournament must go to Gemma O'Flaherty for her superb hit outs. She brought everything we practised on the training pitch out and into the game. It gave us some wonderful wide ball catching our opposition off guard. Ivy Kettlewell showed wonderful grit and determination as she worked up and down the pitch; hassling in defence and displaying pose and control in attack. Every single girl was a pleasure to have in the team and displayed wonderful team work and camaraderie.

Mrs Harriss led a superb B team who have already progressed so much from the start of the season, it was wonderful to see them confident with their stick and using all the different skills they have been working on in preseason, the MT13 Masterclass, lessons and clubs. The girls won 2, drew 1 and lost 2; a wonderful outing for them. Isobel Brown was selected by Mrs Harriss as player of the tournament for her consistent and confident passing and dribbling. She also felt she supported her team mates well. Libby Bird was very useful with her determination tackling and regaining possession of the ball, she was a key player. Evie Holder persevered and tried hard to stay wide and was always looking for space.

I would like to give a special mention to our two wonderful Goal Keepers; Georgina Cameron and Eliana Russo. They have been working so hard in practice and made a number of strong saves and were confident in making the right decisions during matches.

Many thanks to the large number of parents who made the trip to support the girls and gave words of encouragement throughout their matches.
