U9 and U10A&B Hockey
vs The Peterborough School

It was the first outing for both the U9 and U10 teams so they were a lot of excited faces as we walked up to the pitches. The U10's shared the astro and the U9's played on the grass pitches.

The children had a wonderful array of supporters, especially the U9's which was lovely to see. All the girls involved were able to play for the full match which allowed them to develop their skills over the game.

In the U10A game we were working on our shape; trying to stay wide and create some space for us to be able to attack. Isobel Youll worked really hard on this and was able to create some wonderful attacks down the wing linking up with Emily Darrell and Hollie Potts. Due to her focus on staying wide and setting up, as well as scoring goals, I awarded her my player of the match.

In the U10B game Mrs Underwood worked hard with the girls on always being active, whether in attack or defence. She really felt that Jemima Newton showed potential, and that she worked hard to apply the stick skills and passing they have been working on in lessons. For that reason she was awarded player of the match.

It was the U9's first match representing Copthill and they all really enjoyed the experience. Mrs Harriss and Mr Howitt umpired and coached these games and the girls all worked really hard on their stick skills and tackling. They really began to develop regarding finding space to offer for the pass throughout the matches. Soreya Yeganeh and Honey Fleming were named as player of the match across the two games.

Well done girls, a very enjoyable start to your season.
