U11 A Boys Hockey v Maidwell Hall 22nd January 2020

Congratulations to all Copthill players in our U11A squad, for what was a spirited and skilled display against a dynamic Maidwell Hall team.

Within the first 5 minutes Copthill knew they were in for a tough afternoon, as Maidwell pressed hard, moving the ball at pace and scoring twice before we had settled into our game. As the boys adjusted to the speed of the opposition we began to hold more possession from which we launched some stunning counter attacks, the first of which, down the right channel was expertly put away by Monty.

Maidwell were precise in their passing and broke through our midfield on a number of occasions. Most of these attacks were repelled by our organised defence, and particularly courageous tackling by Seb, but unfortunately two more goals crept in.

At half time we reinforced our desire to work as a team, hold our positions and focus on accurate stick skills. The second period was much more like Copthill; Max and Harry scored two well worked goals, and unfortunately, under pressure, we also scored at our end! Never mind, it happens to the best of them!

If we had more time I am sure it would have ended all square as Copthill finished the game playing excellent hockey. Well played All, and many thanks to Maidwell Hall for pushing us to raise our game, and for their kind hospitality.
