ISA National Gymnastics Championships
ISA National Gymnastics Championships
On the 4th of February Copthill competed at the ISA
Championships at Adcote School in Shrewsbury.
We entered an U11 girls team, U9 girls team and for the first time an U11
boys team.
Most of the children travelled up the night before due to a very
early start for the boys especially!
The U9 competed first for the girls and performed beautifully over
all four pieces. Their team spirit was
fantastic and they demonstrated clearly how much they have improved in just a
year.
Set floor in particular saw huge improvements with Flo Cavaciuti
scoring 9, Florence Keeble 9.25 and Ava Turner 9.25, which is a fantastic
achievement. Their voluntary floors to
music were performed confidently and neatly, which also saw some higher scores
being produced.
The girls have worked very hard to improve their vaults and
performed a squat through vault on this occasion. The standard was very high and the girls
finished in a fantastic team 5th place. All great practice in preparation for our
first ever National ISGA competition to be held in early March.
The U11 also had a good competition considering in the week before
we had three of the five girls injured!
In vault the girls competed either two squat through vaults or a
squat through and a handspring. Again
showing some good improvements in their form and shape. Annabel Hayes achieving a great score of 9
for her handspring.
On set floor the girls competed with confidence and although we did
have a few wobbles they completed the routines well. Ivy Kettlewell in particular demonstrated her
strength and composure scoring a 9.2, which she also managed to replicate on
voluntary floor with another 9.2. All
of the girls performed some lovely floor routines to music.
The U11 finished in a fantastic 4th place out of 10 teams
with Ivy Kettlewell finishing in 7th place individually.
Now we have a few weeks to prepare for our
first ever ISGA Premier National five piece competition which we qualified for
this year. The girls will get to compete
on a sprung floor and experience a very professional competition.
