Copthill Annual Cross Country Event - Monday 6th March 2017

Copthill hosted their annual Cross Country event on Monday around the grounds and obstacle course of Copthill School.  Nine schools attended the event with teams of cross country runners competing in each of the four races.

After a fun and motivating warm up the children made their way to the starting line where they eagerly awaited the starting whistle before they set off on their cross country adventure.

Around the top field, through the forest and emerging the other side before being faced with a number of obstacles to negotiate.  The boys and girls all tackled the course in good spirit and with eager determination in their bid to cross the finishing line.

Copthill achieved a number of medals with runners finishing in the top six positions in three of the four races.  Individual medals were awarded to Georgia Plant (4th), Emily Darrell (5th) in the Girls U9 event and Marcus Oliver (6th) in the Boys U9 event.  The U9 girls performed strongly as a team and should be commended for finishing in an impressive and well deserved first position overall, resulting in another impressive trophy to be displayed proudly in the Copthill corridor.

Very well done to all the Copthill children who put on a fantastic performance.
