U8 Netball team v TPS - Wed 8th March 2017

The U8 girls worked hard in their very first Netball match at Copthill.  Understandably a little overwhelmed initially and with a lot to take in, coupled with mixed emotions of excitement and anxiousness, they found their feet and put on a determined performance throughout, enjoying every minute of the match and the eagerly anticipated match tea afterwards!

An early goal from Copthill was unfortunately just not enough to secure a win when the final whistle was blown at the end of the full four quarters.  The girls held their own, particularly in the second half of the match where a number of effective passes were linked together to progress the ball forwards.  Despite continuous hard work, a pleasing number of interceptions and focus in the competitive toss ups, no goals were scored by either team in the second half of the game resulting in The Peterborough School winning by just 2 goals, all scored early on in the game when Copthill were still developing their confidence.

Very well done girls - a pleasing start to your Inter school fixtures and a performance the whole team should feel very proud of.

Captains of the team were Lexie Smith and Lulu Richardson.

Player of the match was awarded to Lexie Smith for her willingness and versatility in playing different positions and making a number of good interceptions in the game.

Mrs Harriss
