U11 A&B Hockey v Maidwell Hall - Wednesday 13th February 2019

U11 B Hockey

On a beautiful sunny afternoon the U11B’s started strongly, holding possession through intelligent running and passing. Our back three were well organised; anything that got through the defence was confidently dealt with by Harry who played fantastically in goal.  Once we realised how much space could be exploited out wide we started to attack with more purpose. A few shots were saved and few were fluffed, but we were making chances, so it was no surprise when pressure in the D resulted in our opening goal. Our second goal was well constructed from the wide channel to centre and a great finish. The second half continued in similar vein; two more goals from well worked passing moves through midfield and forwards. Loss of focus in our defensive duties gave Maidwell two well earned goals in the last few minutes, but Copthill held firm for an excellent 4-2 result. Congratulations to all our players, everyone made important contributions to the game and result! Special mention to Eshan who was outstanding in his passing tackling and all round effort, including an amazing goal line save! Well done boys!

U11 A Hockey

The U11A hockey team produced some sublime hockey against a resilient and well organised Maidwell Hall team. The boys used every inch of the astro, playing it wide when attacking and narrowing the play when defending.

The score at halftime was 2-1 to Copthill, however Maidwell came out a different team after their halftime team talk and managed to go 3-2 up! Copthill weathered the storm and managed to score 3 more goals making the final score 5-3 to Copthill.

Well done to all the boys who played and a special mention to Elliott who player of the match. Our next fixture is away at Ratcliffe when we return after half term.

Mr T Smith
