U11A & B Boys Hockey v Ratcliffe - Wednesday 27th February 2019
The Under A Boys Hockey team played at Ratcliffe on Wednesday 27th February in what was a glorious afternoon of sunshine!
Ratcliffe are always a very strong and well organised outfit who spread the ball wide at every opportunity. However, the boys combated this theory well and nullified the efforts from Ratcliffe!
The first half was a very even contest which ended in a stalemate at half-time. Chances were few and far between with both defences playing really well.
The second half saw changes made which interrupted the flow and dynamics of the match which resulted in Copthill conceding a goal with 5 minutes remaining. Copthill had a glorious opportunity to equalise when in a 3 v the GK and unfortunately the GK coming out on top. It was a shame they didn’t equalise as a draw would have been a very fair result.
Captain and man of the match was awarded to Rory Driver.
Well done to all the boys who took part.
The U11B team played very well beating Ratcliffe B team by 2 goals to 1. They played quarters instead of halves which meant further coaching input for the boys.
They spread the play well going forward and defended resolutely when needed.
