Copthill U9 ‘A’ Football against Grantham Prep U9 ‘A’
In their
first game of the season, Copthill put together a very strong performance
against Grantham. The passing was
accurate and positional play excellent. Elliott
Britton and Eshan Shah were strong in defence, and both Marcus Oliver and Sam
Chesworth were confident and secure in goal.
The midfield distributed the ball well and were all over the opposition
when we attacked, giving Stan Halden a number of chances to strike for goal.
Grantham
were not a strong side and at the end of the first two thirds played, Copthill
had won 7-1 with goals from Elliott Britton (3), Owen Nazaruk-Wheeler (2) and
Austin Waller (2).
Copthill
showed that they will be a hard side to beat this season, but there were times
when we were attacking and pushing so far up the pitch that we left ourselves
open to quick counter attacks. A better
side would have taken advantage of this.
The attitude
of the whole team was excellent. Stan
Halden captained the side confidently and Elliott Britton deserved the Man of
the Match award for his performance in both defence and as a striker when asked
to move there.
The third
session saw both teams mix up and carry out a very exciting training game.
