U11 B Hockey v Stamford School (a) 25-01-17
With only
limited hockey experience, the Copthill side performed really well in this
match. The SJS side, all Y6 were big and
skilful. The Y5/6 Copthill boys
struggled to contain SJS in the first half, failing to mark some of their
midfield players. The team kept together
and Vir Makwana excelled in goal. At
half time it was 4-0, but as the second half began, our defence improved and we
kept our positions more effectively.
Oliver Perkins and Henry Clifton (combined Players of the Match) stopped
numerous attacks and As William Baker closed down his opposite number, Copthill
got chances on goal. Ruben baker scored
twice after some excellent passing. The final
score was 7-2, but the team should be pleased with a positive, promising
performance. They are improving and
showing some really good skills and positional awareness.
