Netball - Spring Term - Week 3 - U11 Squad v Ayscoughfee

A great effort from all of the Year 6 girls

It was certainly a cold and blustery afternoon but it was super to see all of the Year 6 girls taking part in an afternoon of Netball against Ayscoughfee School.

The decision to play all of the girls allowed every one of them to experience another inter school fixture and it also gave some of the girls the opportunity to play different positions and gain match experience.  The game was end to end and Copthill appeared skillful with their footwork, marking ability and variety of passes used, despite not winning the overall game.

Alessia Russo worked hard and displayed super intercepting and Chloe Mills demonstrated consistent safe hands with her catching.  Hope Tomey achieved success with her shooting and secured the 3 goals scored by Copthill.  Lani Elder was captain of the team and player of the match was awarded to Chloe Mills.

A good team effort girls.  Well done!

Mrs Harriss

The Under 10 girls braved the icy weather on Wednesday against Ascoughfee School. Despite having to postpone play in the first half due to a hail/snow storm making play difficult to say the least! Our “B” team took on the challenge of playing in a variety of positions to gain valuable match  experience and re enforce the skills and rules that they’ve been learning in Games lessons.

The girls were out played by Ascoughfee’s U10  “A” team, who had some very strong court players and some outstanding shooting skills. However, Copthill girls continued to try to win possession. Alice Brownlow showed some promising attacking skills as “centre” and Amy Rule put up a gutsy performance as both “wing defence” and “wing attack.”  Both girls were joint “player of the match.”

Captain for the match was Ella Braun.

The girls should be pleased with their efforts and their focus now needs to be on improving their marking and moving into space.  Well done girls.

Mrs Klimes
