A win for the U10A Rounders v Ratcliffe - Wed 14th June 2017

The U10A Rounders team really did an amazing job of playing a high standard of Rounders on Wed 15th June 2017.  They played a tactical game and other than a moment a madness when the girls appeared distracted, they worked exceptionally well as a team and fielded tightly and securely.

Ratcliffe were caught out on a number of occasions when Eliana, Ivy and Gemma confidently watched the high ball and moved athletically into place to secure a safe catch each time.  Gemma repeated this skill on several occasions in her role as cut off.  Bea was quick thinking in her deep fielding position and delivered the ball accurately to Ivy on second to prevent Ratcliffe scoring the half rounders on second post.

The girls batted with true determination and were clever in placing their hits away from the opposition.  The hedgerow became a clever tactic and the strong batting throughout the team helped Copthill take the lead.

The game was close but Copthill deserved their win and should be commended on rising to the challenge when they realised they were two rounders down after the first innings.

Very well done girls, a great team performance.  Ivy was awarded star player by the Ratcliffe team for her work at second post.  Gemma, Bea and Ivy were awarded players of the match for their excellent fielding teamwork.  Captain of the game was Eliana.

Mrs Harriss
