Year 5 "Cool Games" 21st June 2017

On the hottest June day since 1976 those Year 5 children not in fixtures had an afternoon of fun and gentle exercise, playing "Cool Games".

In the first activity Cool = Water. As a team relay, the children took water, on a lunch tray, from one tub to another across a small obstacle course. We had fun experimenting with various ways of carrying the water tray; two hands, one hand, on head....

Some Year 5's turned out to be very talented waiters, whereas you may not want to order your food and drinks from others?! (no names..)

The second activity Cool = Baseball. The relay teams came together into two sides for a game of Softball. Adapting their rounders/cricket skills to get to grips with a double handed bat and catching gloves, the children dried out whilst enjoying an innings each.

As we become more familiar with the skills and rules, it seems that Softball is now a favourite activity for Wednesday afternoon recreation.
