The U10 girls were full of enthusiasm for their triangular fixture.
The U10 A's started off with a close win over TPS - finishing with a
final score of 5 1/2 - 5. Grace Richardson produced some lovely bowling
and there was some strong fielding from Charlotte Dean, Jemima Hitcham and
Georgie Sakkalli. There were some impressive scores for Lottie Cole,
Molly Salter, Rosie Thorpe, Maddy Barratt and Lily Newman when batting.
The U10 A and B teams had already met during their games lesson on
Monday, with a 9-3 win for the A's, so the A's were keen to make it three wins
out of three when facing Ayscoughfee. The girls were put into bat first
and got off to an impressive start with some lovely batting and some good
scores from Grace, Rosie, Lottie and Molly. The Ayscoughfee fielders
worked tightly and limited us to 5 1/2 so the girls knew that they would have
to improve their fielding skills in order to secure a win. Ayscoughfee
had some excellent batters, but the Copthill girls worked hard with some lovely
fielding to ensure a draw.
The U10 B's played Ayscoughfee first and despite some lovely fielding
work from Stella Nicholas and an improvement in their batting skills, they came
out with a 4 1/2 - 8 loss.
The final match was between Copthill B and TPS. The girls batted well,
with good work from Mirrin Edgar, Sydney Freeman, Alice Teesdale and Alannah
Coupland, but the tight fielding from TPS meant that we were held to only 3 1/2
runs. Some lovely fielding work followed, with good performances from Lucy
Colman, Kaiya Shah and Alexa Scott, but the TPS batters were too strong
and we suffered a 3 1/2 - 7 1/2 defeat.
Overall positions:
Joint first - Copthill A and TPS
Third - Ayscoughfee
Fourth - Copthill B
The girls should all be pleased with their enthusiasm and determination
on the day and it was lovely to see them enjoying the opportunity to play in
such a friendly event.
