U11 A Netball v Brooke Priory - Wednesday 2nd March

After two successive defeats (to Laxton and Stamford) earlier in the term, the U11 girls were determined to make their last netball match at home a win. They started with determination and used their new centre pass set piece routines confidently. The match was very evenly paced, with the ball moving quickly up and down both ends of the court. After a particularly rapid paced first quarter, the girls settled down and fought hard for the ball. Some lovely intercepting and close defending from Kiara Mashru and Elizabeth Hall saw the Brooke Priory shooters placed under pressure and they were unable to make the most of all of their shooting opportunities. Half time saw the game at 2-2. The third quarter was again incredibly evenly matched. Alice Brownlow (at WD) showed great pace around the court making it increasingly difficult for her player to get the ball, meaning that Alice was able to get the ball to Ags Pennell (at centre) quickly and effectively. Ags and Daisy Selkirk worked well together to create space and get the ball to our shooters and some tight marking from Daisy gave her the chance to make some fantastic interceptions. Going into the final quarter 3-2 up, the girls were determined to hold onto their lead. Some lovely work around the circle from Ana Isaac and Rosie Sly saw Copthill gain the majority of the possession and the win was sealed with a fantastic goal in the last two minutes of the game. Captains for the day were Alice Brownlow and Daisy Selkirk. Players of the Match were Ags Pennell (as voted for by the Brooke Priory team) and Kiara Mashru for her fantastic performance as GK.  The girls should all be very pleased with their performances and they are looking forward to taking on their parents in the match next week!
