U11B Cricket v Brooke Priory - Wednesday 9th May 2108

Copthill U11B win by 1 run vs Brooke Priory

In what was a well-fought match by both sides, Copthill U11B edged out Brooke Priory by 1 run.

Copthill won the toss and elected to bowl first. Brooke made a positive start but were restrained by tight, consistent bowling from Will Cole. The precedent that he set led to a sustained period of pressure from Copthill bowlers and fielders, reducing the run rate considerably and taking a few wickets, including a brilliant ball from Elis Rubins-Thomas that clipped the top of the off peg. Will Cole’s fielding throughout was attacking and intense, and helped reduce Brooke’s total to 55 runs.

Copthill’s innings started strongly, with Henry Clifton hitting 16 off 4 balls. Henry C and Stuart Hodge put on a big partnership to set a high standard for the rest of the team. Other top contributors included Felix Bowling, Ted Pennell and Will Fraser. There were a few poor run calls that lead to some careless wickets, making a difficult run chase in the final three overs. However, Raj Sisodia and Elis Rubins-Thomas played some great shots and some patient leaves under pressure to win the game by just one run.

Fielding player of the match was Will Cole for his intensity and discipline, whilst batting player of the match was Henry Clifton for his explosive Jos Buttler-esque shots! A big well done to Ted Pennell as well for some confident glove work behind the stumps.

Well done to all that participated.

Mr Day
