U10 Boys Hockey v Ratcliffe (H))

Copthill U10s played at Ratcliffe School on Wednesday 4th February in what was an incredibly tight contest!

It was a bitterly cold afternoon so our boys had to be giving 100% just to keep warm. They gave that and more against a school who traditionally play hockey throughout the term whereas Copthill have one lesson a week. Therefore all the boys should be very proud of their efforts.

The first half saw Ratcliffe dominate which was expected, however the Copthill defence stood firm to everything that was thrown at them, which was matched by a number of outstanding saves and kick outs from goalkeeper Oliver Dowell.

After a collective half time team talk, Copthill came out on top for much of the second half. However they were caught on the break and Ratcliffe took the lead with a near post finish. This seemed harsh on the boys as they'd been playing so well and were sniffing for a goal. Copthill continued to dominate as the 2nd half progressed and their efforts were awarded with a well taken goal from prolific goal scorer Max Kettlewell following super work from Felix Clayton. If the match had gone on longer I feel that Copthill would've eventually come out on top.

However honers were even at the final score with the match ending 1-1.  Very well done to all the boys who took part and in particular Toby Dalrymple who was instrumental in the Copthill defence!
