Netball - Spring Term - Week 5

It was great to see every girl in Year 5 and 6 playing in a Netball match at Stamford.  They all enjoyed the afternoon and the atmosphere was lovely.

U11'A' Team

Captain: Emily Scrafton
P-O-M: Hope Tomey
Score: 6-4 Loss

The U11A team played an evenly matched game against Stamford on Wed 11th February away at Stamford.  The girls tried hard to keep possession of the ball and made every attempt to intercept the ball, although at times a little too enthusiastically resulting in incidents of 'contact'.

Emily Scrafton was Captain of the match and player of the match was awarded to Hope Tomey for her super shooting.

The final score was 6-4 to Stamford.  There is still room for improvement girls but you really have come a long way since the start of the term.  Keep focussed and remember what you have learnt.

Well done.

Mrs Harriss

U11'B' Team

Captain: Alexandra Parker
P-O-M: Lani Elder
Score: 5-4 Win

Lani Elder was awarded “player of the match” for keeping her cool and scoring all of the five goals against Stamford, with some great team work between herself and Ana Isaac.

The girls played well as a team, communicating and driving the ball forwards into their attacking third with ease. The speedy centre court players managed to intercept the ball and prevent Stamford from getting the ball down to their shooting end on many occasions. Stamford had great success when they managed to get the ball to their shooting end, so our defence had their work cut out to intercept and keep the ball away!

The score was 2-2 at half time, however in the third quarter we managed to score two goals to Stamford’s one goal, which gave us the edge by a goal.

Both teams scored a goal each in the final quarter. A great game to watch and umpire. Both teams fought to the end.

Mrs Klimes

U11'C' Team

The U11'C' Team were successful in securing a win for Copthill in their match against Stamford.  Well done girls.

U11 'D' Team

The U11'D' team battled hard but were not able to secure a win when the final whistle went.  A great effort though girls and well done for super sportsmanship.
