Netball U11 C v Stamford Junior School Won 8-4

Copthill U11 C Netball team played at Stamford junior school on Wednesday 11th February in what was a very entertaining match.

With Mrs Lamb away it was left to Mr Smith to step in as netball coach for the first time ever in all his years at Copthill!

Copthill started tremendously well and stormed into a 4-0 lead within the first quarter with goals from Jess Anderson (3) and Poppy Newman (1). The girls again performed strongly in the sending quarter and the score was 5-1 at half time and after an encouraging and motivational team talk, Copthill again came out strong and finished the third quarter leading 8-2. The final period proved to be their weakest, however they knew that they had to defend the lead for the final 8 minutes of the match. This proved to be the right tactic as Stamford could only manage 2 goals as the match ended 8-4 in favour of Copthill.

All the girls deserve tremendous credit for their efforts and skill during the game and a special mention must go to Jess Anderson who was playing under the weather and scored a number of well taken goals. Player of the match however goes to Ayana Shah who was fantastic at sniffing out the opposition and her distribution was excellent! Well done to all who participated in the match.
