U9 and U11C Girls Hockey v Brooke Priory

U9’s

The under nines fought back against Brooke Priory, with a 3-0 win.  The previous week, a few of the U9 team were involved in another event and the team had been thrown in at the deep end by having to play on the grass, which was a shock to the system, but never the less an invaluable learning curve for future grass matches.  This week however, the girls were excited and were raring to go from the whistle.  They started to work better as a team with players being reminded to hold their space and mark the opposition.  It was a joy to see the girls begin to spread out a little and pass out to the wings! Well done to everyone.
Player of the match: India North, who followed instructions well and showed great attacking and defending skills.
Captain: Emily Anderson.

U11’s Cs

The girls got off to a flying start, with 2 goals to zero being scored in the first half. Elizabeth Hall (captain) displayed some feisty attacking skills, as did Izzy Durrands. Lea Chauhan moved back to defend in the second half of the match and held her own, clearing the ball and blocking  several goals from being scored.
The team rotated at half time, giving all the girls chance to partake.  Unfortunately Brooke Priory managed to get the upper hand in this second half, scoring 3 goals to zero.
Well done to everyone for participating! The weather was not so kind, with the heavens opening on our arrival. Despite the somewhat damp conditions, the girls showed true Copthill spirit and gave it their all.
