U9s V Stamford Rugby Club Tuesday 20th October 2015

Copthill U9s took a squad over to Stamford Rugby Club where many of the boys play at the weekend.  This was an evening match played under lights which was a real treat for the boys.

This fixture has become an annual event where parents can come and watch their children after work. We have traditionally had horrendous weather for this fixture but last night was a rare occasion which saw a still, but chilly evening.

Nearly all the boys that took part in the fixture from Copthill are also associated with Stamford Rugby Club and credit must go to them for playing the match in fantastic spirit and enthusiasm!

Players from both sides performed superbly and demonstrated some excellent rugby. The boys are improving every week and I would imagine that the amalgamation of these boys presents a fantastic outfit on a Sunday morning!

Tackles were flying in and both sides were trying hard to get the ball down the line and out wide. Copthill did this well and are practising this in their Games lessons. Stamford were particularly good at the breakdown and kept possession of the ball well.

I would like to thank all the coaches involved during the evening, not just from Copthill but in particular from Stamford Rugby Club who looked after us brilliantly. I would also like to congratulate all the boys who took part in the fixture that saw the boys enjoy themselves and have fun, whilst also learning and developing their all-round skills and techniques.

Please have a look at some shots of the evening below and it's a star for the unfortunate shot of who is performing the glute stretch!!

Well done!

Mr Smith
