Copthill v Brooke P U9s Wed 14th October 2015

Copthill U9s played against Brooke Priory today in what was a repeat of last weeks fixture.  Copthill had 3 extra players this week who missed this fixture last week due to cross country.  It was evident from the beginning that Copthill were much stronger, committed and determined to not only emulate what they did last week, but go one better - and win!!

Copthill played very well with a solid core of players who demonstrated good structure throughout.  They kept their positions well and tried to offload at the correct time.  They have worked tirelessly in training to time their pass to perfection and run straight.  This has been performed brilliantly in training over the past few days and was implemented at times during the match today.

The tackling stood out for me today as did the structure and formation of play from our boys.  Special mentions go to Edmund Kavati and Reuben Isaac for their ferocious tackling.

The score at half time was 4-3 to Copthill.  After a good half time teamtalk Copthill started the second half very strongly scoring 2 quick try's.  The game ended 6-5 to Copthill.

Again, the match was played in fantastic spirit and the boys have been a credit to Copthill for n ot only the way they have played, but also for their sportsmanship, commitment and manners throughout both fixtures against Brooke Priory, who I would also like to thank for coming to Copthill 2 weeks on the trot, sharing the refereeing and being supportive of all the boys from both sides.

Well done to all the U9 boys who have taken part today, you should be very proud of yourselves.

Mr Smith
