U10 girls hockey tournament at Leicester Grammar School

On Wednesday 23 November the under 10 hockey team travelled to Leicester Grammar to play in a mini tournament.
There were eight schools present including ourselves:

Pool A
LGJS
Stamford
Copthill
Witham Hall

Pool B
Brooke Priory
Stoneygate
Fairfield
Ratcliffe

The matches were 15 minutes one way and the girls played four matches in total, accruing 10 points for a win, 5 points for a draw and 2 points for a loss.

The girls first match was against Witham Hall, who were remarkably strong at attacking. The girls lost 4-0. It was a harsh way to start the tournament after an hour long mini bus ride.
However, after a team talk and re- jig of playing positions, the girls played Leicester Grammar. The girls defended their end well and despite much improved play, no goals were scored by either team, so the end result was a nil - nil draw.
The third match was against Stamford and again despite good possession of the ball, the girls didn't score. It was unfortunate for them that Stamford managed to roll one in seconds before the whistle blew.
The girls ended the tournament on a positive note against Ratcliffe College with a 2-0 solid win.

Well done to all of the girls and their attitude for changing positions on the pitch when asked and being subbed on and off the pitch. Some girls got more pitch time than others, but on the whole the girls handled this in a mature and accepting way, which is lovely to see.
