U10 Girls Hockey Festival @ Stamford Junior School

The sun was certainly shining as the girls arrived at Stamford Junior School for a busy afternoon of hockey.  Arriving in plenty of time allowed the girls time to warm up in preparation for the matches ahead.  The Year 5 girls were quick to get into the right mind set and they demonstrated focus in their warm up drills: passing, receiving and tackling well.

The festival was a great opportunity for every girl in Year 5 to experience the element of match play against a number of different schools.  They all worked hard and put into practice everything they had learnt.  Confidence was gained in different situations and the girls developed greater speed in 16 yard hit outs and long corners.  Games were end to end and everyone really played their part and contributed as part of a team.

Soraya Yeganeh was awarded player of the festival in the U10B team for her hard work, perseverance tackling and constantly ‘on the go’ approach. Well done to all the girls; you were all super.

Mrs Harriss
