U11A Hot Hockey!

Wow what a sunny October we have been treated to so far! 10th of October and we had some very red faces in the team afterwards!

The girls played three matches across the afternoon in an overall 60 minutes of match time. It was a wonderful afternoon of Hockey which really challenged the girls. All of our opposition were strong, especially a very well drilled Winchester team. The girls defended with real heart in the first half with Violet G-B making some superb saves to keep the score 0-0. The second half saw Winchester get into their grove and they finished the match 3-1. I was really proud of the girls and the work rate they displayed.

Next came Laxton, again the work rate was really pleasing and Libby Bird delivered some super balls through the midfield. Emily Darrell and Annabel Hayes displayed faultless attitudes in chasing back and getting themselves all over the park. The final score was 2-1 but the game was very even and we created a good number of chances.

Finally we played Brooke Priory and the girls were really starting to feel the heat by this point. I rotated players frequently to allow quick water breaks and a breather before heading back out. Both Georgia Plant and Holly Potts were able to stay a little higher in this match which gave the girls more chances in the D. Their perseverance The girls shape was far stronger in this game and we were able to come away with a 3-2 win.

Overall it was a really beneficial afternoon of Hockey where the girls were able to work on different elements of their match play across the afternoon.

My player of the Afternoon this week was Libby Bird; strong work rate, confidence on the ball and delivery of some excellent balls to penetrate their defence and give us some go forward.

Well done girls, Mrs Alcoran
