U11s mixed Vs Maidwell Hall School Weds 18th November 15
On a rather wet and windy November afternoon we set off for Maidwell Hall School. The girls were intrigued by the beautiful building which reminded them a little of “Hogwarts, ” set in a huge estate, with a lake and rambling surroundings.
The girls were playing Maidwell’s only seven year 6 girls, one of which had been borrowed from year 5! It has traditionally been a boys only school. Despite this, the Maidwell girls were an extremely strong side in comparison to ourselves. I soon learned that their secret weapon was the fact that they lived at the school and managed to sneak in twice as many training sessions! The house mistress informed me that the girls are on the go from dawn till dusk. Despite this advantage, our girls dominated possession of the ball for this first half of the game, however we were unsuccessful in scoring any goals, to Maidwell’s five.
In the second half of play Maidwell picked up the pace, however the girls kept trying to win possession of the ball right until the end of play. Well done to everyone who participated. It was a tough game.
Captain: Izzy Durrands
POM (Nominated by Maidwell girls) Amy Rule for her skills and determined play
And Isobel York-Forward: for preventing many MORE balls from flying into the goal!
Overall score: 10-0 loss
