Year 5 & 6 Boys Rugby at St Hugh's - Wed 11th November 2015
Copthill were able to field all the boys in Year 5 & 6 for this fixture over in Woodhall Spa against St Hugh's.
We had an U10A and U11A match going on at the same time to being with and after these matches had concluded there were a further two matches taking place. These saw the amalgamation of some Year 5 & 6 boys playing together and winning by a huge margin of 16 try's to 3!! Luke Harriss, Timmy Golland and Oliver Perkins were outstanding in this match which was overseen by Mr Smith. The other match was again an amalgamation of the two year groups and consisted of boys that did not get as much game time as the others. This match resulted in defeat for Copthill.
I would like to thank St Hugh's for accommodating Copthill and for their excellent hospitality throughout, in what was a very fun and enjoyable afternoons for all the boys.

U10 ‘A’ Against St. Hughs, Wednesday 11th November 2015
Copthill started slowly in this match but soon found their feet and produced some fine rugby throughout.
They went one try down but then started to dominate proceedings, running straight and trying to offload before being tackled. Copthill recycled the ball well and went into half time leading by 2 try's to 1. They continued where they left off after the interval and eventually winning the match by 5 try's to 1. Will G, Owen, Will LV and Charlie put in some fine performances.
They have a couple of matches left this term against Maidwell and SJS respectively which will see, in what has been a positive season of rugby for the Year 5s draw to a close, before concluding with the annual rugby house matches.
Well done to all the boys involved.

U11 ‘A’ Against St. Hughs, Wednesday 11th November 2015
This was a seven a side match due to the limited number of Year 6 children at St. Hughs. Highlights of the game were some good handling skills, straight, penetrative running by Gabe Rudman, Felix Clayton and Max Halden as well as some effective rucking to win turnover ball. Unfortunately, apart from some spirited tackling from Toby Dalrymple and Felix Clayton (Man of the Match) the defence was seriously lacking. A greater commitment to hitting the opposition low and hard is essential if we are to stop the opposition scoring in the last remaining games.
A late try by Gabe Rudman after some direct running and quick release at the breakdown was well deserved, though the final score of 7-1 was a fair reflection of the game due to our lack of tackling.
