U9 Rugby away v Maidwell Hall - Wednesday 18th November 2015
Copthill U9s played their final rugby match of the term away at Maidwell Hall on Wednesday 18th November.
It was a very wet day which made for great rugby conditions, however ball handling was going to prove tricky!
Copthill started the match in ferocious style racing into a 3-1 lead. Maidwell pulled one back just before the whistle went for half time which meant Copthill lead at the interval 3-2.
Maidwell started the second half very well and soon went into a 4-3 lead within 5 minutes of the restart! This was the score for the majority of the second half until the final play when Maidwell went over for the final try of the match which ended up maidwell hall 5 and Copthill 3.
Copthill played well defensively and tackles were excellent for the most part of the game. However the boys must remember about staying as a line when defending and not dropping further back, which allows the opposition to gather speed and momentum towards our try line! They also needed to offload the ball quicker too whilst attacking.
I have to say however, the boys across the course of the term have made super progress as a team and have improved immensely! They should be very proud of themselves and have been a credit to the school. I believe that Mr Thomas will inherit a super bunch of boys who play well as a team and have the potential to do very well next year.
Well done to you all.
