Copthill U11B Rounders v Laxton Junior School

The U11 B's played Laxton Junior School on Wednesday 27th April.  Captain Samantha Hughes won the toss and elected to field first. The girls produced a lovely display of tight fielding, with some great decision making from Isabelle Branton and Amy Rule which limited Laxton's ability to score rounders and saw us going into bat only 5 rounders down. Some confident batting from Lea Chauhan, Georgie Sakkalli and Jemima Hitcham helped us into a five rounder lead at half time. Laxton came out to bat for their second innings with determination and put our deep fielders of Jessica Gumbrell, Evie Joyce and Izzy Durrands to the test with some excellent long hits, meaning that we had work to do in our second innings of batting. The girls concentrated hard on their batting, producing some great hits and watching the ball carefully when it was fielded back, resulting in a 17 1/2 - 14 1/2 win. Players of the match were Jemima Hitcham (as voted by Laxton), and Lea Chauhan (for her excellent batting skills and confident work on 4th post).
