U11 Kwik Cricket Tournament (h) Wednesday 27th April 2016

Eight U11 Boys took part in a mini Kwik Cricket Tournament at Copthill on Wednesday 27th April. Three matches were played in total during the afternoon, which meant the boys got plenty of chances to bat, field and bowl. The other school were Grantham Prep, Laxton and The Peterborough School.

Copthill played Peterborough in their first match, defeating them by 248 runs to 228. Man of the Match for this game was Connor Finlan for his excellent contribution to the run rate. The second match was against a solid Grantham Prep side, which was a closely fought game ending in defeat for Copthill losing by 14 runs. Man of the Match for this match was William Gardner for his superb bowling figures. Copthill's final match of the afternoon versus Laxton was nearly interrupted by rain, however there were only 3 overs to be played as the rain lashed down, parents took cover but the boys remained on the pitch until the bitter end, despite the match ending in defeat to a very good Laxton team who won all three of their matches. The final score was 260 runs to 232 in favour of Laxton. Man of the Match for this game was Felix Clayton for his outstanding fielding skills.

Very well done to all the boys who took part and remaining mature and sensible in what ended up in very wet and cold conditions! The next match for the U11 A and B team is on Wednesday 4th April away at Orton Park CC against The Peterborough School.
