U9 A Rounders v Stamford Junior School

On Thursday 21st the U9's played SJS at rounders.  The girls were keen to get started and were put into bat first. Determined not to let this deter them, the girls started with a fantastic first innings. Some great hitting from Emily Anderson, India North and Isla Fulluck got us off to a flying start despite some very tight fielding from Stamford. At the change over, the girls talked about where to field the ball to in different situations and this clearly paid off as there was as assured display of fielding from Jessica Dean, Gemma O'Flaherty, Ivy Kettlewell and Bea Selkirk. At half time we were 5-2 up which was a fantastic start. The girls continued to grow in confidence with some excellent batting in the second innings from Gracie Siddall and Isobel Brown, leaving us in a great position at 11 1/2 - 2 with one innings of fielding left to go. The girls were incredibly focused, with some excellent bowling and deep fielding and managed to hold Stamford to only five half rounders in their second innings, meaning that the final score was 11 1/2 - 4 1/2 to Copthill.

A fantastic start to the season girls - you should all be very pleased with your performances!
