The MISGA Gymnastics Competition

MISGA Gymnastics Competition

At the weekend some of our gymnastics squad girls competed at the Midlands Independent Schools Gymnastics Competition for 2016.  It was our first regional competition and they performed brilliantly coping with the pressure of a larger competition very well.

The U9 Advanced team were the first to compete on the Saturday.  They performed their floor routines to music and two vaults each. With a large audience watching we saw some composed and elegant routines and some good floor skills.  Well done to Ivy Kettlewell who was our highest scorer of the day in a very strong field with an overall placing of 9th position out of 25 girls.

The U9 Novice team competed later on in the day with a set floor routine and two vaults.  They showed a huge improvement in their routines and there were some fantastic smiles to the judges!
Jessica Dean also placed 14th as our highest scorer for the U9 Novice team. We finished in 4th position for both teams.  Brilliant results for our first ever regional competition!

On the Sunday we saw the U7 girls compete a set floor routine and two vaults.  We have seen a massive improvement in their control and skills recently and they demonstrated what a strong team they are going to be in the future. Florence Keeble was our top scorer and finished in 12th place. The team also finished just out of the medals in 4th place!

We had a lot of comments from the judges on how well they did in their first big competition. Well done girls!
