U11A Girls Hockey @ Stamford Hockey Festival 21st Sep 2016

The U11 'A' team showed greater promise in their first match of the hockey festival at Stamford Junior School.  Improvement was shown from their previous match performance last week.  The girls played a very defensive first game whist they found their feet and they showed perseverance to the end.  On the whole the team played better positionally and they worked hard to spread out.  They tackled with greater purpose and were successful in gaining possession of the ball in difficult situations.  Copthill were commended on the urgency that they showed in taking free hits and long corners which helped to take Stamford off guard.  A well played game that was an unfortunate loss.

Copthill were then up against Spratton Hall for their next match.  They played a focussed and determined game and showed improvement working the ball around the pitch with some good passing.  A quick pass from India to Isla and then a great cross in from Isla to Ivy who secured the ball in the goal gave Copthill the feeling of success and they went from strength to strength in their match against Spratton Hall.  There were moments of excellence in the game.  Copthill secured an impressive and well deserved 3-2 win.

Player of the tournament was Charlotte Dean for her excellent defensive work and positioning.

Well done girls - keep this enthusiasm up - you can do it!
