National Cricket Week embraced by the girls!

All of the Yr5&6 girls played in a competitive kwik cricket match at Stamford Junior on the final fixture day of this academic year. I know I have mentioned this before in end of term reviews, but I do think that cricket is the way it will go for the girls more and more into the future.

I split the 32 girls into 4 teams of 8 and ensured there were Yr5 and Yr6 girls in all teams. I then nominated a Yr6 Captain and Vice Captain to organise each team for the afternoon; the 8 girls really rose to the challenge and warmed their teams up and did the toss, cheers and batter/bowler of the match. These were; Bea&Gemma, Halle&Ivy, Amelia&Felicity and finally Eloise&Molly.

We bowled 8 balls in each over, with each pair batting for two overs. This gave every girl the chance to bat and bowl and they really seemed to enjoy it. A number of girls hit 4's and 6's and we even managed to snatch a few wickets across the 4 games.

The girls enjoyed a lovely afternoon of cricket in the sun and were keen to know when they would get to play again! Unfortunately not until next Summer term!

Players of the Match were:
A team: Gemma O'Flaherty- bowler and Emily Darrell- batter
B team: Halle Stone & Ivy Kettlewell- bowlers and Holly Potts- batter
C team: Evie Holder- bowler Felicity Branton- batter
D team: Charlotte Gee & Eloise Walker
