U9A Girls Hockey v Ratcliffe

The team started well and with clear formation; from the first whistle it was clear they were up against a determined team.  Copthill had to work hard to defend and keep the ball from crossing the goal line.   The defenders (Ada and Isabelle White) worked well together preventing a number of goals being conceded.  It was unfortunate that as Copthill had their chance, with Lily and Kitty-Mae making a clear break and creating shooting opportunities, that the whistle blew for the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter provided more end to end play and Copthill appeared to settle into the game, with the girls demanding greater time on the ball.  Siena and Isabel Hurst put increasing pressure on the player with the ball and Lily worked hard moving around the pitch and breaking away into space.  An equalising goal from Lily was the motivation the team needed to persevere and keep on battling.  Anabel used her speed to advance towards the opposition in her bid to regain possession of the ball and Amelia worked hard and tackled with determination at every opportunity.

Despite not winning the game, it was a game well played with a super team effort.

Well done girls...keep up the good work.

Mrs Harriss
