U11 Hockey vs Witham

Witham came with a strong team and gave us a very good game. I don't think the score fully reflected the possession, but it did show a Witham team who capitalised on their chances.

The Copthill girls worked hard to hold their shape and really tried to think more about playing the ball wide. The weather was awful and the rain came down heavy during play. Displays of wonderful dedication from our supporters staying out throughout the down pour and even lending umbrella's to the Witham parents.

Some wonderful power from Libby Bird in feeding the ball wide and down the pitch gave the girls up front something to chase  and work hard to get on the end of. We struggled to find the back board and convert the possession into goals but there were a pleasing number of parts to the game. Lulu Berry's defence being one. She really improved over the game and her confidence to shadow her player with her stick on the floor made a huge difference to the chances they had in the second half.
The final score was 6-3 to Witham
